We must continue to have faith when disaster strikes
-
Luke 22:32 - I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail.
Jesus knew that Peter would fail him but Jesus said he was praying that his faith would not fail. Jesus knows that we are going to fail him but he is praying that our faith does not fail.
-
Micah 7:8 -Rejoice not over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise: when I sit in darkness, the LORD will be a light to me.
Jesus was praying not that we wouldn't fall, but that when we do, we get back up again. We are going to fall. We are going to have disasters, the Christian life isn't a cruse ship, its a battleship.
When we are sitting in darkness, we can't be are own light, the LORD will be our light.
-
Philippians 1:6 - I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
Our destiny is not disaster, but God will use the disaster.
-
Isaiah 54:17 -NO weapon formed against us shall prosper.
The weapons may make us stumble, but it will not stop us.
God will place people in our lives who will betray, cut down, say awful things to us. Those people are a gift. The help crucify the flesh. And after crucifixion, comes resurrection power.
-
In Matthew 26:50 Jesus called Judas 'friend' right before he betrayed him, knowing that he was going to betray him.
-
In Matthew 16:22-23 Peter didn't want Jesus to go to the cross. Jesus says, "Get behind me satan, you are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.
Any person is in this born again experience, who wants to help us experience the easy street and is operating in a way to stop us from crucifying my flesh, is not our friend.
A friend is someone who will help us crucify our flesh.
We will not be destroyed in our dilemmas!
Our destiny is not disaster. Let us keep on going, God has bigger things up ahead for us!
